About this video: Learning how to create a Minecraft server in version 1.21 will unlock all sorts of amazing things. Mainly, this will allow you to play Minecraft with your friends in version 1.21 by experiencing the test chambers, crafter and all the new features of Minecraft 1.21 together.

This guide is our complete guide on how to create a Minecraft server in version 1.21. This includes where to download Minecraft server files, how to start a Minecraft server in version 1.21 with these files, and how to play Minecraft 1.21 with your friends once your server is set up, allowing them to connect and join.

To begin, we will need to download the files from the Minecraft server. There is a link in the description above that will take you to our website. This is a complete text guide on how to create a Minecraft server. Once you are there, click on the “Download Minecraft” button. This will take you to the official Minecraft website where you will download the Minecraft.jar server.

On this page, click on the link “minecraft_server_1.20.6.jar” and the download of the Minecraft server.jar file will begin. You may need to keep or save the file depending on your browser.

After downloading the server.jar, create a new “Minecraft 1.20.6 Server” folder on your desktop and move the server.jar there. At this point you should be able to double-click the server.jar file and generate different files and folders. However, if double-clicking doesn't work, you'll need to get Java 21.

Java 21 is required for Minecraft 1.21 server, and there is a link in the description to get it. We also recommend running Jarfix after getting Java 21 to ensure that double-clicking the Minecraft.jar server works.

Once the files are generated, one of them will be the eula.txt file. Open this file, replace “eulafalse” with “eulatrue” and save it. Now when you double-click server.jar, your server will start. At this point you can join your server. To join the server, you can simply use “localhost” as the IP address. However, your friends will not be able to join you at this point.

In order to play Minecraft 1.21 with your friends on your server, you will need to perform port forwarding. This allows them to connect to your server on your computer.

We cover port forwarding in depth in the video, but more specifically, you will need to forward port 25565 over TCP and UDP protocols. Once done, your friends will be able to join your server using the public IP address!

There are also helpful guides in the description above on adding RAM to your server, troubleshooting, and even allowing Java through Windows Defender, which could prevent your friends from joining your Minecraft 1.21 server after port forwarding.
